Several like-minded religious groups on Friday held a rally in the capital protesting the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden.
They staged the protest rally after Friday prayers at National Mosque Baitul Mukarram area.
The central leaders of Jamaat took part in this protest under the banner of “Sommilito Islami Dolsomuho”.
Along with this, the Jamaat also held protests across the country.
Leaders of several religious groups that participated in the protest said that the Khelafat Majlish first protested after Friday prayers.
After that, the Dhaka metropolitan unit of Jamaat-e Ulema Islam (Ikram) brought out a protest rally.
The Islami Andolon held a demonstration around 2:30pm.
The group also held a brief rally at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram Mosque.
Leaders of several other organizations were also present. Mufti in-charge of mosque mission Dr Khalilur Rahman Madani, also working council member of Jamaat, served as the coordinator of the parties in the rally held under the banner.
In addition, Jamaat's Central Majlish Shura member and Dhaka Metropolitan South Nayeb-e Amir Dr Helal Uddin, Central Majlish Shura member Delwar Hossain, Kamal Hossain and Maulana Dr Abdul Mannan, two sons of Delwar Hossain Sayeedi and many other jamaat leaders participated in the protest rally.
The rally was presided over by Abu Taher Jihadi.
Leaders of several Islamic parties said that the organization using the banner was active before 2020. After that no more programs came from this organization. Recently, Jamaat leader Khalilur Rahman Madani has started activities under this name.
