Update : 16 Dec 2021, 04:24 PM

Qawmi madrasa-based ogrnaziations, including hardline Islamist group Hefazat-e-Islam, have condemned Saudi Arabia’s decision to ban Tabligh Jamaat.

The chief of qawmi madrasa broad has described the move as shocking.

Mahmudul Hasan, chairman of Al-Hayatul Ulaya Lil-Jami'atil Qawmia and president of Befaqul Madarisil Arabia Bangladesh, on Tuesday said Saudi Arabia’s decision has shocked the Muslims in Bangladesh. According to him, the people “who oppose Islam around the world” are likely to benefit from this decision.

The chief rector of India’s Darool Uloom Deoband, Maulana Abul Qasim Nomani, has also asked Saudi Arabia to reconsider its decision because otherwise a wrong message may be conveyed to Muslims, said Hasan.

Hefazat Amir Muhibbullah Babunagari said the sole purpose of Tabligh Jamaat is to promote Islam.

Such strong allegations against them will undermine their efforts, a statement quoted him saying.

Calling Saudi Arabia to lift the ban, he urged the country not to take any actions that might jeopardize their legitimacy.

The religious affairs ministry of Saudi Arabia had recently dubbed the Tablighi Jamaat as a ‘gateway of terrorism’ and banned it.

Its minister of Islamic affairs also instructed mosques to warn Muslims against the Tabligh Jamaat at Friday prayers. They also asked the mosque muezzins to inform the people of the sins, immorality, and atrocities committed by the group.
