Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to pay a 2-day visit to Gopalganj on Saturday.
In anticipation of the Awami League president's visit, a preparatory meeting was held at the Kotalipara party office on Tuesday.
With Kotalipara upazila unit Awami League President Bhabendra Nath Biswas in the chair, the preparatory meeting was attended by PM's Assistant Private Secretary (APS)-2 Gazi Hafizur Rahman Liku, various leaders from the upazila Awami League and associated parties.
Kotalipara Awami League General Secretary Aynal Hossain Sheikh said the premier will come to Kotalipara on Saturday.
“Here, she will exchange Eid greetings with the leaders of the local Awami League and allied parties and plant a tree in front of the party office,” he said.
Dhaka Tribune“Afterwards, she will participate in a luncheon with the leaders,” he added.
According to upazila Awami League sources, the prime minister will head to Tungipara after completing her itinerary in Kotalipara, where she will spend the night.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to address a public rally in the Gopalganj Sadar upazila.
Kotalipara Awami League Organizing Secretary Kamrul Islam Badal commented: "The news that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will come to Kotalipara the day after Eid is a joyous one for us. Her arrival will enhance our Eid celebrations."
This is going to be Sheikh Hasina's second trip to Kotalipara this year.
Previously, she visited her home constituency on February 25, where she gave a speech as the chief guest at a rally held at the Talimpur Telihati High School ground in the Sadullapur union of Kotalipara.
