The divorce rate in Bangladesh doubled in 2022 compared to the previous year, as unveiled in the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) report titled Bangladesh Sample Vital Statistics (BSVS) 2022.
The report's unveiling took place on Tuesday at the BBS building in Agargaon, Dhaka. Planning Minister MA Mannan was present as the chief guest at the event.

Furthermore, the study shed light on alarming trends concerning child marriage.
In 2022, the rate of girls getting married below the age of 15 soared to 6.5%, as opposed to 4.7% in 2021. Similarly, the rate of girls getting married below the age of 18 escalated from 32.4% in the previous year to 40.9% in the same period.
These findings underscore the urgency of delving into and addressing the factors contributing to these societal shifts.
