A girl has been gang-raped after being picked up and taken away on her way to her college in Gazipur's Sreepur upazila.
Sreepur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Fazal Md Nasim said a complaint was lodged on Tuesday and that the girl's father was asked to bring her there for more details.
Following her rescue on Monday evening in an unconscious state, the college student regained consciousness on Tuesday morning and made accusations against six individuals, including a 17-year-old teenager, for their involvement in the gang rape.
Furthermore, the rape survivor said a person spoke to her two days prior introducing himself as her younger brother's friend.
On Monday when she was going to college, he offered her coconut water. At one point he forced her to drink it and she became unconscious.
According to the complaint lodged at Sreepur police station, the girl's family said on Monday morning, she left home to attend an exam.
However, she failed to return home by 3pm. Later, around 4pm, an unidentified person answered her phone and said she was forcefully taken away by a group of young men near the Kutumbari resort on the Gosinga-Rajabari road.
The girl was found unconscious in the Patka area of Kapasia Road in Sreepur and was immediately rushed to Sreepur Upazila Health Complex. Due to the severity of her condition, she was transferred to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for better treatment. It was during the early hours of Tuesday morning that she regained consciousness and reported the gang rape.
