A patrol team of the Forest Department has held nine fishermen for violating the ongoing fishing ban in Satkhira.
The Forest Department team, led by Station Officer Mobarak Hossain, detained the fishermen along with their fishing materials in the Arpangasiya River in the Sundarbans.
The detainees are Shahadat Gazi, Kamrul Islam, Obaiduliah, Mizanur Rahman, Meser Dhali, Abdul Bari Sardar, Billal Hossain, Amirul Islam and Abdul Bari.
During this time, the Forest Department workers seized nets used by the fishermen, 100kg of rice and two boats.
Satkhira Range Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) AKM Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury said further action will be taken against them under the Forest Act.
