Two teams of RAB and police on Wednesday afternoon recovered the bodies of three friends who went missing in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.
Their bodies were recovered from Teknaf's Damdamiya hilly area.
The recovered bodies are Mohammad Yusuf, 30, of Jalalabad Saudagar Para area of Cox's Bazar Eidgaon upazila, Rube, 28, of Chowfaldandi area, and Imran of Nunia Chora area of Cox's Bazar city.
The three friends went to Teknaf on April 28 saying they were going for a trip. A group of abductors stopped the CNG carrying them and took them into the deep forest. Later, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Tk30 lakh to release them.
Since the incident, family members have maintained contact with several law enforcement agencies. However, the kidnappers frequently shifted locations for which no rescues or arrests could be made possible at the time.
RAB later arrested one person involved in the incident with the help of information technology. Based on his information, law enforcement reached the spot and recovered the bodies.
Later, police sent the bodies to the morgue.
Teknaf police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abdul Halim said that police and RAB were starting operations in the deep hills since receiving the news.
