The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has raided the office of the state broadcaster Bangladesh Television (BTV).
According to the ACC's public relations department, the operation was conducted at BTV's head office in the capital's Rampura area on Tuesday.
ACC Assistant Director (public relations) Shafi Ullah said that there were allegations of corruption against the chief engineer of BTV.
The accused ignored the evaluation committee's recommendation and embezzled the entire amount and got the work done by his own contractor through irregularities by giving a bill of Tk40,15,863.
An enforcement operation was conducted by the ACC head office at BTV on Tuesday after receiving a complaint about the cancellation of the previous work order and re-inviting the tender.
Shafi Ullah said that necessary records were collected during the raid. A perusal of the records found truth in the allegations. The ACC will take further action after the review.
