A Thakurgaon court has ordered a departmental investigation against the officer-in-charge of Sadar police station for illegal detention and torture of a Jubo League leader after blindfolding him.
District unit Jubo League Organizing Secretary Asaduzzaman Pulak filed the case against OC Kamal Hossain and four others with the court of District and Sessions Judge Mamunur Rashid on Wednesday.
The court took the case into cognisance and asked the police superintendent to file a departmental case and submit medical reports of the plaintiff within 24 hours.
According to the case, Sadar police members detained Pulak and one Rocky on charges of creating trouble during the traditional fair (Boishakhi Mela) at the Public Club playground on April 29. They were taken to the police station and tortured till midnight.
At one point, police took him to Thakurgaon General Hospital and then sent him to jail.
After securing bail from the court on May 2, Pulak took treatment at the same hospital with the help of his family members till yesterday and went to the court to file the case.
