International Day of the Midwife was observed in the country as elsewhere across the world on Friday.
Directorate General of Nursing and Midwifery (DGNM) organized a rally in the capital to mark the day. Director General of the Directorate General of Nursing and Midwifery Maksura Nur led the rally that began at Dhaka Nursing College premises and crossed through the University of Dhaka.
Over 600 midwifery students attended the rally, organizers said in a press release.
International Day of the Midwife was first celebrated May 5, 1992, and has since been observed in over 50 nations around the world
