Barapukuria coal power plant unit-3 operation resumes

The unit-3 started supplying 200 MW of electricity to the national grid from Sunday night

Production of the Barapukuria coal-fired thermal power plant unit-3 resumed on Sunday afternoon after two days of shutdown over technical problems.

Mohsinul Islam, assistant engineer of the power plant, confirmed the matter on Monday.

Since the beginning of this unit with a power generation capacity of 275 MW, 200 MW of electricity has been supplied to the national grid.

According to power plant sources: "Production of Barapukuria coal power plant of unit-3 resumed after repairing a stream pipe which burst Friday evening. The unit-3 started supplying 200 MW of electricity to the national grid from Sunday night."

Electricity was being produced from unit-1 with a power generation capacity of 125 MW and unit-3 with a power generation capacity of 275 MW.

Around 900 to 1000 metric tons of coal are being used per day for power generation from unit-1 and 2600 metric tons of coal per day for power generation from unit-3.
