A Dhaka court on Monday ordered to send a suspected member of a fraud gang to jail in a case filed at Ramna police station in connection with the embezzlement of money alluring the leak of SSC examination papers on social media.
The name of the accused is Md Robin Babu, a second year student of Mansoor Ali College, Kazipur, Sirajganj.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate court judge Md Shakeel Ahmed ordered to send him to jail after Sub-Inspector Md Sumon, also investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court in the case with a plea to keep the accused in the jail for the sake of investigation, said General Registration Officer of Ramna Police Station Sub Inspector Nizam Uddin Fakir.
On Sunday, he was arrested by the Cyber Terrorism Investigation Team of the Counter Terrorism Unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police in a raid in the Myshura area of Dhunat Upazila of Bogra.
According to the statement of the case, during every public examination, some unscrupulous gangs conduct movements on facebook, messenger and other social media to cheat in the name of question paper leak to grab money.
Arrested accused Robin basically opened a fake facebook account and advertised on messenger and facebook to leak all the subject questions of various boards with 100% assurance.
He ran a campaign through facebook and whatsApp that the photo of the fake question paper would be sent to a group of people. In this way he has collected a huge amount of money from the examinees through bKash. The number of followers of various pages and groups of this gang is about 1,000.
