Sust gets first female treasurer

She is replacing Sust’s outgoing treasurer Professor Dr Anwarul Islam

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) has appointed Professor Amina Parveen as the first female treasurer of the university.

This information was revealed in a notification signed by Rokhsana Begum, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Education, on Sunday.

The notification said: “According to Section 14 (1) of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Act 1987, Professor Amina Parveen of the Department of Social Work of the university has been appointed as the treasurer of the university with the approval of His Excellency the President and the Chancellor. Her term of appointment as treasurer will be four years from the date of joining.”

She is replacing Sust's outgoing treasurer Professor Dr Anwarul Islam.

Md Abu Hena Pohil, assistant professor, Department of English, said: “Amina Parveen is the first woman treasurer in the history of Sust.”

Born and brought up in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna, Professor Amina Parveen was a student of social work department of Rajshahi University in 1985-1986 academic year. She completed her master's degree in 1988-1989 academic year from the same university.

She completed her International Masters of Science in Social Work (IFSW) degree in 2007 from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.

She joined the Department of Social Work of Sust as a lecturer on 9 April 1996.
