Two farmers were killed in lightning strikes while harvesting paddy in Bahuli Union's Bagdumur village under Sirajganj sadar upazila on Saturday.
The deceased are Abdul Malek, son of Nosiim Khan and Abdul Majid Sheikh, son of
Soleiman Sheikh. Both are residents of Bagdumur village.
Sirajganj Sadar police station Inspector (Operation) Suman Kumar Das said: "These two farmers were harvesting paddy in the field. They were returning home when the storm started. They were seriously injured by lightning on the way."
Later, the locals rescued and sent them to the Sirajganj 250 Bed Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatun Necha Mujib General Hospital in Sirajganj, where the duty doctors declared them dead.
The bodies are currently kept in the hospital.
