9 Bangladeshi sailors rescued from Indian waters after 3 months

The sailors became stranded in Indian waters after their ship met with an accident

The Bangladeshi ship MV Rafsan Habib-3, which had been stranded in Indian waters for three months along with nine sailors due to an accident, has been rescued.

Members of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) Battalion-17 rescued the ship and its crew on Friday and handed them over to the concerned authorities around 4:30pm, Commander Lieutenant Colonel Kamrul Ahsan said.

The Bangladeshi ship, Rafsan Habib-3, was involved in an accident in Indian waters on February 24.

As a result, the nine sailors were stranded for a prolonged period of three months in the Hemnagar area within Indian waters.

The BGB became aware of the situation and began efforts to rescue the ship and its crew.

Subsequently, with the overall assistance of Nildumur BGB Battalion-17, and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) managed to rescue the ship and its nine crew members through the Kachikata canal and provided them with medical treatment and food.

The rescued sailors are Abul Kashem, Sazzad Hossain Apu, Azmir Hossain Munna, Yusuf, Belal Hossain, Tabachchum Yusuf, Fahim Khan, Jahangir Sheikh, and Jakir Hossain Hawlader.
