Leaders and activists of Awami League and its associated organizations brought out a joyous procession and distributed sweets in different parts of Pabna on Monday, soon after Mohammed Shahabuddin was sworn in as the 22nd President of Bangladesh at a ceremony in Bangabhaban.
Shahabuddin took oath as president at 11am.
Pabna district unit Awami League arranged a big screen showing the oath-taking ceremony at the Awami League office.
A doa mahfil was arranged at the office and sweets were distributed among people.
Later, they brought out a celebratory procession from the district AL office which paraded different important points of the town.
People of the district expressed their gratitude to the prime minister for electing Shahabuddin as president of the country.
They also hoped that the new president will play an effective role in the district's development, turn the medical college into a hospital, introduce a full-fledged university, and develop Dhaka-Pabna rail communication system.
