Tommy Miah Bangladesh Festival of Food and Culture, an initiative spreading the best of Bangladeshi food, music and culture worldwide, will be a part of the South Asian Festival to be held at Birrarung Marr in Melbourne, Australia, on April 29-30.
It will celebrate the significant contribution that Bangali-run restaurants have made to local cuisine and the community in Melbourne, reads a press release.
The first edition of Tommy Miah Bangladesh Festival of Food and Culture was launched in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1996, during the annual Edinburgh International Festival.
This year's edition is expanding to multiple international locations in a first-of-its-kind Bangali cultural event. The festival will be a great opportunity to stimulate interest in restaurant services that have been through a tough time in recent years, the release says.
Tommy Miah CollectedTommy Miah Bangladesh Festival of Food and Culture will be spearheading restaurant economic activity in diverse locations this year, including in the UK, Bangladesh, UAE, France and India.
“The festival is part of our ongoing program to promote a positive image of Bangladesh. The festival will showcase the best in Bangali food, drink, arts and crafts to the international community. Tour events will be held in fantastic global locations, including at prestigious restaurant and hotel venues in the UK, Dubai, Bangladesh, India, Tokyo, Brussels and Abu Dhabi.”
In a post-Covid economy, the festival will be a fantastic opportunity for hotel and restaurant businesses to demonstrate their readiness to restore their service to the fullest capacity, the organizers hope.
The festival will also exhibit the finest of Bangali culture with a heady mix of song, dance, fashion and literary highlights. “Bangali food and culture are intimately entwined, and our festival will demonstrate this fusion perfectly to the visiting public.”
