The official Eid holiday started on Wednesday. Coming to the second day of the holiday, there is not much pressure of people heading home at Gabtoli bus terminal in the capital on Thursday.
Passengers were seen waiting at bus stands since dawn to go home. As each bus arrived, the waiting passengers got into those buses.
Although it was taking some time due to traffic congestion in various parts of the road, however, compared to other years, the pressure of people was less this year, transport officials said.

Family members were seen waiting for the bus to go home in the scorching heat at Gabtoli bus terminal. As there is not enough space for passenger restrooms at the bus terminal, many people were waiting in front of the counters at various places in the terminal.
Passengers expressed their frustation as the buses did not leave on time.
A waiting passenger Mamun said: “I am waiting for the bus. You can see what the situation is in summer. Still going home to celebrate Eid with family. What's important is that I can reach properly and spend Eid with my family.”

Hasina Banu said: “I am going home after seven months. I feel happy thinking that I can spend Eid with everyone. The bus is waiting to pick up the passengers, we are also waiting.
“This year it seems that the suffering on the road will be a little less,” she hoped.
Zahidul Islam said: “I have been waiting for the bus for two hours. It hasn't arrived yet but nothing to do but wait. I can see the traffic jam on the way out of Dhaka.”

Hanif Paribahan Manager Ashraf said the pressure of passengers on Thursday and Friday is same as other times. There is no extra pressure for Eid.
He also said that because of the Padma Bridge, many people are taking buses from other bus terminals instead of going from Gabtali bus terminal due to which the bus and passenger pressure is slightly less. However, he said that the passenger pressure will increase slightly if there the garment industry goes for holiday.
