300 underprivileged children get Eid gifts

State Minister for Women and Child Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira handed over Eid gifts to the underprivileged children at Bangladesh Shishu Academy

Women and Child Affairs Ministry on Monday distributed Eid gifts among 300 underprivileged children. 

State Minister for Women and Child Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira handed over Eid gifts to the underprivileged children at Bangladesh Shishu Academy as the chief guest.

The Eid gifts were distributed at a program of 'Child Development Center and Street Child Rehabilitation Program and Doa Mahfil' organized by the ministry. 

Secretary of the ministry Md Hasanuzzaman Kallol was present as the special guest.

Indira said the Eid gifts were given to the underprivileged children of Shishu Bikash Kendra and Street Child Rehabilitation Project under the initiative of the ministry, said a press release.

"This is a very good initiative because after getting new Eid clothes and iftar items children expressed happiness. We saw the smile on their faces, which is more valuable," she said.

The state minister said: "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government aims that no child should be deprived of education, food, medical care and rights. The government is ensuring education and protection of children."

The government has been implementing special programs for children, who dropped out or were underprivileged, she added. 

Indira also said the government is providing scholarships to many students across the country.
