Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) has decided to ferry motorcycles on the Shimulia-Majhirkandi route of Padma River for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr from Tuesday.
Motorcycles will be able to cross the route from 6am to 6pm in two ferries until further notice, said BIWTC Shimulia Terminal Manager (Trade) Md Jamal Hussain.
“On Saturday morning, BIWTC senior officials inspected the ferry wharf and waterway. The channel's navigation issue has already been fixed. Motorcycles will be crossed through the medium ferry Kunjalta and K-type ferry Comilla during Eid,” he added.
The fare for motorcycles has been fixed at Tk150. The number of ferries will be increased for motorcycles if the pressure increases, the official noted.
