The train that began its journey on trial basis from Bhanga in Faridpur completed its journey at 3:18pm.
The train with seven compartments left Bhanga station for Mawa at 1:21pm on Tuesday.
PMOThrough this, the train journey started for the first time on the ground of Madaripur, Shariatpur and Munshiganj.
Earlier, Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan inaugurated the test run program till Mawa.
Ali Asif Shawon/Dhaka TribuneHe said: “Today, we are doing a trial run of the initial success of this project from Bhanga to Mawa via Padma Bridge. Hopefully, the train will run from Dhaka to Bhanga by next September. Next year, train movement will start from Dhaka to Jessore within the scheduled time (June 2024).”
PMOLater, the minister along with concerned officials of the government and the leaders and activists of the local Awami League and affiliated organizations also left Bhanga for Mawa as passengers of the experimental train.
PMOBesides, 100 new coaches are expected to be brought from China to ply Dhaka-Jessore route via Padma Bridge. Already 45 coaches have arrived in Bangladesh.
