Update : 03 Apr 2023, 11:47 AM

Prothom Alo journalist Samsuzzaman Shams has again filed a petition with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka seeking bail in the Digital Security Act (DSA) case over publishing a report on March 26.

Confirming the information on Monday, Shams' lawyer Prashant Kumar Karmakar said the date and time of the hearing can be known after 12:00pm.

Shams is requesting bail in the case for the second time.

Prothom Alo reporter Samsuzzaman Shams, working in Savar near the capital Dhaka, was picked up from his house in the Ambagan area near Jahangirnagar University in the early hours of Wednesday by the CID for allegedly publishing fake and fabricated news.

Later, he was sued under the DSA on the same day and a Dhaka court sent him to jail on Thursday rejecting his bail plea.
