Daffodil International University celebrated the 53rd Independence and National Day of Bangladesh with great enthusiasm at its campus.
To mark the day Daffodil International University organized a discussion meeting on Saturday, at Professor Aminul Islam Seminar Hall of the university at Birulia, Savar Dhaka, said a press release issued on Sunday.
Heroic freedom fighter, Principal Asadul Haque, president of Bangladesh College Teachers Association was present as the chief guest.
Professor Dr M Lutfar Rahman, vice chancellor, Daffodil International University presided over the program.
The program was also addressed by Prof Dr Mostafa Kamal, dean of Academic Affairs, Professor AMM Hamidur Rahman, dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, Professor Dr Md Fokhray Hossain, dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology and Syed Mizanur Rahman Razu, director of Student Affairs.
Md Anowar Habib Kazal, senior assistant director (Public Relations) conducted the discussion session.
While addressing the students in the speech of the chief guest, freedom fighter Principal Asadul Haque said that the spirit and ideals of the liberation war and Bangabandhu cannot be compromised in any way.
He urged the young generation to be careful about the long cherished freedom gained by the wise leadership of the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujbur Rahman and the long struggle and sacrifice of the freedom-seeking people, reads the press release.
A group of teachers, students and officials of Daffodil International University led by Syed Mizanur Rahman placed floral wreaths at the National Memorial at Savar paying homage to the Martyrs of Liberation War in the early hours of Sunday.
Ishaq Mizi, deputy registrar, and Md Anwar Habib Kazal were also present.
Besides, different clubs of the university organized painting and photography competitions and film exhibitions.
