A Chittagong court on Wednesday granted bail to Parvez Uddin alias Shantu, one of the three directors of Seema Oxygen Plant in Chittagong's Sitakunda area, over an explosion on March 4 that killed seven people and injured many.
Chittagong Senior Judicial Magistrate Shahriar Iqbal passed the order after hearing the bail plea, said Chittagong District Court Inspector Zakir Hossain Mahmud.
Chittagong Industrial Police detained Parvez Uddin from the city's GEC intersection on March 14.
The next day, he appeared before Chittagong Judicial Magistrate Begum Nazmun Nahar's court and police requested a seven-day remand. However, the court only granted a one-day remand.
At least seven people were killed and over 30 injured in a massive fire that broke out at the oxygen plant following an explosion in Kadam Rasul (Keshabpur) area of Chittagong's Sitakunda upazila on March 4.
