The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism on Wednesday directed Biman Bangladesh Airlines to form a probe body to investigate the reason behind its email server going down because of a ransomware attack.
State Minister Md Mahbub Ali gave the direction while talking to reporters at an event in the capital.
On Friday, Biman's email server was attacked with ransomware and the server was down, due to which the airline could not carry out its official work properly.
The national flag carrier of Bangladesh could not recover the server yet.
Ransomware is a type of malware that threatens the client to either permanently prevent access to the server or to disclose the victim's personal data unless a ransom is paid.
