Sitakunda oxygen plant blast: Director put on one-day remand

The accused was nabbed by the Industrial Police on Tuesday

A Chittagong court on Wednesday granted a one-day remand to one of the three directors of Seema Oxygen Plant in Chittagong's Sitakunda area over an explosion on March 4, resulting in seven fatalities and several injuries.

Chittagong Chief Judicial Magistrate Kamrun Nahar Rumi's court delivered the order, Chittagong District Court Inspector Zakir Hossain Mahmud said.

He said that the investigating officer requested a 7-day remand in court for Seema Oxygen Plant. After the hearing, the judge granted a one-day remand.

The accused Parvez Uddin alias Shantu was nabbed by the Industrial Police on Tuesday. He is one of the accused in a case filed with Sitakunda police station in connection with the blast.

At least seven people were killed and over 30 injured in a massive fire that broke out at the oxygen plant following an explosion in Kadam Rasul (Keshabpur) area of Chittagong's Sitakunda upazila on March 4.
