The Cabinet Division has instructed the deputy commissioners (DCs) across the country to ensure prices of commodities are under control during the upcoming Ramadan.
The decision was taken at a regular cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Prime Minister's Office on Monday.
After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain briefed the journalists on this matter.
He said that in case of abnormal increase in the price of goods in the market, immediate legal action has been ordered from the cabinet department.
The cabinet secretary further said that there are various limitations in market monitoring. However, in Ramadan, the price of goods should not be illogically increased. The government is taking a strict stand in this regard. Mobile court will be implemented if necessary.
