BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has strongly condemned the clash that took place in an annual religious event of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at on Friday in Panchgarh.
He issued a statement in this connection on Saturday.
"The apathy and indirect support of the ruling government is responsible for the conflict that took place in Panchagarh centred around a religious ceremony," the BNP secretary general added.
“Communal harmony has always prevailed among the people of Bangladesh. Today people are speaking out against the suffering of daily economic life. When people are united for voting rights and democracy, such events are taking place with the help of the ruling government to divert people's attention to different sectors. Which is just a long-term apolitical strategy of the government,” Mirza Fakhrul further said.
Mirza Fakhrul also commented that such issues of religious conflict are being artificially presented to confuse all the democratic forces inside and outside the country.
He urged the democracy-loving people to be alert and aware about this at this time.
