Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin said Bangladesh, an innocent victim of climate change, earnestly strives for shifting its vulnerability towards resilience to prosperity under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He said Bangladesh has successfully engaged itself with the global community in the fight against climate change playing the lead role in several international forums.
The minister for environment, forest and climate change said this while one member of Belgium Delegation, Prof Jean-Pascal Van Ypersele, former vice-chair of Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change, called on the minister in Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday.
The environment minister said Bangladesh appreciates Belgium as well as the European Union for the decade-long support to Bangladesh in combating the adverse effects of climate change and protecting the nature environment.
“We are looking forward to working closely with Belgium in the endeavour of showing the adverse effects of climate change and building a climate-resilient green world,” he added.
Deputy Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Habibun Nahar, Secretary Dr Farhina Ahmed, Additional Secretary (Admin) Iqbal Abdullah Harun, Additional Secretary (Climate Change) Md Moniruzzaman were also present at the occasion.
