The Inidan Border Security Force (BSF) has yet to return the body of a Bangladeshi man who was shot dead at the Hili border in Dinajpur on Friday.
The deceased was Sahabul Hossain Babu, 24.
Expressing deep regret, the family of the deceased said that the body was not returned till Sunday afternoon.
On Friday evening, Sahabul was shot dead allegedly by members of the BSF along the Hili border area in Dinajpur while entering the Kundupara area of India through the 285 sub-boundary pillar of the border.
Abul Hossain, the father of the deceased, said: "I contacted the local BGB camp on Friday night and made a written request to the BGB to take necessary measures to hand over the body.”
He also complained: “BGB has not yet taken any action in this regard. My son's body is still in the custody of the Indian police”. He also made a request to the government to help him regarding the issue.
Babuli Akhter, the wife of the deceased, said: “Babu left the house on Friday evening to buy food for his daughter. Later neighbors informed that he was shot dead by the BSF.”
Joypurhat 20 BGB battalion captain Lt. Colonel Rafiqul Islam said: “We are discussing with BSF about handing over the body”.
