Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque on Friday said that efforts are underway to make the health sector of Bangladesh reach international standard.
He said this during an exchange meeting with the officers and employees of M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital in Dinajpur on Friday afternoon.
The minister said: “We have been able to prove our capability by controlling Covid-19 and providing vaccination like no other countries.”
Around 5,00,000 people died in India, 1 million in the United States, while despite being such a populous country around 29,000 people died in Bangladesh, he added.

He also said that the vaccination rate of Bangladesh has reached 98% while it's 50% in the US.
The health minister said that their target is to ensure that none from Bangladesh has to go abroad for treatment, rather the time comes when people from other countries come to Bangladesh for treatment.
He also appreciated the initiatives and efforts by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to improve the country's health sector.
