Local administration on Monday announced a bounty of Tk1 lakh for information leading to the attackers involved in vandalising 14 idols at 12 temples in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon district.

Baliadangi upazila parishad Chairman Ali Aslam Jewel declared the bounty at noon.

“Whoever did this, should not be done this. We are now all together and such incidents have occurred in our area for the first time. Already I have visited the temples and talked to many people over the issue,” he said.

Fourteen idols of Hindu gods and goddesses of twelve temples under three unions—Dhantola, Charol and Paria unions—have been found broken on February 4.

Jatindranath Sing, president of Sindurpindir Horibasar Temple committee in Baliadangi upazila, filed a case with the police station on the following day.
