A cocktail explosion took place at a madrasa in Meherpur's Gangni upazila Friday night. Police arrested six BNP leaders and activists on suspicion of being involved in the incident.
Gangni police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Razzak said that BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists were holding a secret meeting in a madrasa in Bamandi. When a police team approached the spot, on information, two cocktails exploded.
The activists fled while five unexploded cocktails, two local weapons and batons were seized from the spot, he added.
The police officer also said that the process of filing a case regarding the explosion and cocktail recovery is ongoing.
