Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud on Thursday has instructed the deputy commissioners (DCs) to take action against various propaganda and rumours shared on social media.

“The DCs have been instructed to find out which social media are used more to spread rumors and inform the Ministry of Information,” he said.

He made these remarks while talking with journalists after a meeting with the DCs on the third day of annual conference of deputy commissioners at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka.

“Government and administration have to work together for the development of the country. Therefore, the Awami League government has never partisanised the administration and will not do so in the future,” he said.

Regarding the 12th National Assembly elections, the information minister said: “The Election Commission, not the government, will decide how the administration will work in the next election.”

The three-day annual conference of deputy commissioners (DCs) began in the city on Tuesday.
