Nasrul Hamid: Better customer service possible with more technology

The state minister attended the inauguration of a SCADA system under Desco on Sunday

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Sunday said that the more technology is used, the more sustainable and desirable the quality of customer service will be. 

“Customer needs and complaints should be listened to seriously and the service quality should be increased by taking initiatives to solve them as quickly as possible,” he said.

The state minister made the remarks as the chief guest at the inauguration of a SCADA system (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) under Dhaka Electric Supply Company (Desco) in Dhaka.

The state minister said even if Desco is doing well, only the customers can comment about their service. “Service quality can be surveyed.”

He also emphasized on underground electric cables and substations.

“It is known that the SCADA system has been installed to monitor and efficiently manage the power network of 69 stations under the control of Desco from the central control room. Feeder load values will manage load efficiently by automatically collecting load variations over time. Now 120,000 customers under Desco will get better service,” the state minister said.

Desco board Chairman and Additional Secretary of Power Division Md Nizam Uddin chaired the event.

Md Habibur Rahman, secretary, Power Division, Md Mahbubur Rahman, chairman of Power Development Board and Kawsar Amir Ali, managing director of desco, also spoke at the event.
