The construction work of the country's first underground Metro Rail Mass Rapid Transit Line-1 (MRT-1) will be inaugurated on January 26.
The MRT Line-1 is from Airport to Kamalapur. It is the first underground metro rail in the country.
Line-1 project director Abul Kashem Bhuiyan said: “The Line-1 Subway will be officially opened by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a vacant area close to Janata High School in Purbachal. She will inaugurate a foundation plaque.Through this, the Line-1 Depot's work will get underway.”
He said that there will be no land consolidation in the depot construction area of Pitalganj so it will be done here.
The Airport route and Purbachal route of Line-1 will be distinct. Starting at Shahjalal International Airport, the airport part route will travel to Kamalapur through Airport Terminal-3, Khilkhet, Jamuna Future Park, New Bazar, North Badda, Badda, Hatirjheel, Rampura, Malibagh, and Rajarbagh.
