Two Indian Coast Guard ships, named ICGS Shaurya and ICGS Rajveer, arrived at Chittagong port on Friday for a seven-day visit as a part of the ongoing close cooperation between the Coast Guards of Bangladesh and India.
The visit of these ships is an important part of the defence partnership between India and Bangladesh and the wide-ranging cooperation between the Coast Guards of the two countries.
The two ships, those are state-of-the-art indigenously built for Indian for Coast Guard, were given a warm welcome by the Bangladesh Coast Guard.
The two ships showcase Indian Coast Guard's will and commitment "To serve and protect" the maritime interests of the nation.Deputy Inspector General Ravindra Kumar and COMDT (JG) Venkateshwar Thapliyal are commanding the ships.
Dhaka TribuneAs part of the courtesy visit, the captains of the two ships will pay a courtesy call on commander Chittagong naval area and zonal commander East Zone.
"Regular visits of ships between the Navies and Coast Guards of India and Bangladesh contribute to further strengthening mutual trust and understanding between the two countries and their armed forces, while showcasing our common commitment to peace, stability and prosperity of our shared maritime space," said the release.
Besides, a friendly volleyball and basketball game between the coast guards of the two countries are also supposed to be held.
