
Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of the ruling Awami League, celebrated its 75th founding anniversary through different programs in Dhaka and elsewhere on Wednesday.
This year, the organization vowed to build smart campuses and a smart educational institution system in the country in line with the AL's vision of “Smart Bangladesh”.
Talking to Dhaka Tribune, Saddam Hussain, BCL's newly-elected president, said: “The slogan of building a ‘smart Bangladesh' has united the general students of the country. Now we aim to expand this slogan politically.
Collected“We want to develop every campus as a smart campus by ensuring digital facilities, familiarizing modern syllabus and technical education across the country so that the youths can get jobs after finishing their studies.”
The BCL president also said they would work within different educational institutions to defeat political parties that believe in the politics of violence.
CollectedBCL General Secretary Sheikh Walid Asif Enan said they would become a smart student wing of the ruling party and remain above all controversies.
To mark the founding anniversary, leaders and activists of the BCL placed a floral wreath at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi 32 around 8am.
CollectedThe national and party flags were hoisted at all organization offices, including its central office, at 6:30am.
Besides, a cake-cutting ceremony was held around 9am at the Curzon Hall on the Dhaka University campus. Winter clothes were distributed among the poor in TSC area of the campus in the afternoon.
CollectedThe BCL also undertook elaborate programs to mark the day, including a blood donation camp, distributing educational materials, cultivating barren lands, and organizing a concert for “Smart Bangladesh”.
