The 48th death anniversary of freedom fighter and leftist revolutionary leader Comrade Siraj Sikder was observed in the capital on Monday.
This day is observed as Martyr's Day with respect in memory of those who were martyred in the democratic and revolutionary struggle of the country.
A discussion meeting was held at Sarkadwip of TSC at Dhaka University.
Hasan Fakhri, president of Shaheed Biplabi O Deshpremik Smriti Sangsad, presided over the meeting.
Shantanu Suman, joint general secretary of Jatiya Ganatantrik Ganamancha, conducted the meeting.
Speakers at the meeting said that there is no other option for freedom except to establish the people's state, government and constitution by ousting the ongoing Awami fascism.
They also urged to speak out against the political, economic, and military interference of Russia and the US.
As part of the program, Leaders also placed wreaths at the graveyard of Siraj at 9am after the end of a morning procession from the Old Shyamoli Cinema hall.
In 1975, he was killed in the custody of the Jatiya Rakkhi Bahini at Savar.
