A Dhaka court on Sunday ordered to send Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman to jail.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Sheikh Sadi passed the order.
On this day, Shafiqur Rahman was produced to court after three days of remand. After that, the investigation officer of the case, Inspector Md Abul Basar requested to keep him in jail until the investigation of the case is over.
Following the plea, the court ordered him to be sent to jail.
Earlier, on December 13, the court granted his seven-day remand and on December 21, three-day remand.
On December 13, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Media) Farooq Hossain informed the arrest of Dr Shafiqur Rahman.
He was later shown arrested in a case lodged under Anti-Terrorism Act with the capital's Jatrabari police station.
His son Rafat Sadik Saifullah was also shown arrested in the case on November 9. Rafat was arrested from Sylhet along with his associate on charges of his involvement with militant activities.
