Leaders of ruling Awami League-led 14-party alliance have joined the 22nd national council at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday morning.
Although Jatiya Party leaders participated in it, no BNP leader came.
Abdul Kader Siddique, president of the Krishak Sramik Janata League, also attended the conference of Awami League.
The opposition party in Jatiya Sangsad, Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader and General Secretary Mujibul Haque Chunnu, Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon and General Secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha, Jasad President Hasanul Haq Inu and General Secretary Shirin Akhtar, Tarikat Federation President Najibul Bashar Maizbhandari, General Secretary of Ganatantri Party Dr Shahadat Hossain, General Secretary of Jatiya Party Shahidul Islam Pramukh were also present.
Senior leaders of the 14 parties, BNP, Jatiya Party and other political parties were formally invited to the council. However, it was earlier understood that no representative of BNP will attend the event.
Besides, Awami League has invited the heads of embassies of various countries assigned to Dhaka. But this time the representatives of foreign political party were not invited.
