Speakers for taking advantage of demographic dividend

Speakers at a function on Monday called for taking advantage of democratic dividend to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
They were addressing the function titled "SDG Campaign-2022: Necessity of Active Representation of Youths and Women" at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium here.
State Minister for Planning Dr Shamsul Alam, UN Resident Coordinator Gwyn Lewis, UNDP Bangladesh Chief Technical Advisor Fakrul Ahsan, Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman, Bangladesh Women's National Football Team member Sajeda Sathi addressed the program.
UNDP SC4 SDG project associate Farhana Razzaque and Prothom Alo Bandhu Sabha Jatiya Parishad General Secretary Zafar Sadiq moderated it.
Dr Shamsul Alam said the government laid emphasis on ensuring youth employment and creating human resources in the 6th five-year plan.
He said youths are potential force in implementing SDGs. Bangladesh did well in implementing Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), he said.
Terming SDGs as a social movement, he said if Bangladesh can implement SDGs successfully, Bangladesh's image will be brightened manifold in the world.
