The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Tuesday issued a red alert along the Kamalpur land port and border areas of Jamalpur over the escape of two Ansar al-Islam members who escaped from the premises of Dhaka Court Sunday noon.
Shamsul Haque, assistant director of BGB's Jamalpur-35 section, said the red alert has been issued at the Indian border of Jamalpur's Bakshiganj and Dewanganj upazilas, like the other borders of Bangladesh.
“Although only goods are transported through Kamalpur land port, BGB will be extra vigilant around these areas,” he said.
“Patrolling and intelligence activities have been strengthened throughout the border area. If anyone tries to enter India through the border, the Border Security Force (BSF) has been informed to detain them and hand them over to BGB,” he added.
Bakshiganj police station Officer-in-Charge Tariqul Islam said the police are on high alert at the border area. The militants will be arrested if found.
