Inu: Now is not the time to talk about toppling government

Now is the time to tackle a possible economic crisis, says the lawmaker

Update : 19 Nov 2022, 09:14 PM

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad) President and former information minister Hasanul Haque Inu has said that the government is working to tackle a possible economic crisis, and it is not the right time to wage a movement because it will increase public sufferings.

“Now is not the time to talk about elections and government change. Now is the time to face the crisis. The government is doing just that. Political anarchy is not a solution, it will only increase the suffering of the people,” Inu told reporters while visiting Mirpur Upazila Health Complex in Kushtia on Saturday.

In response to a comment by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Inu said: "We are preparing for the election as per the constitution. The national elections will be held in due course to preserve continuity. All parties must participate. Those who will not participate actually do politics of conspiracy.

“Those who are criticizing now were in power in the past; they are not angels, and they have no magic wands. They are trying to come to power by causing sufferings for the people.”

The lawmaker said: “I hope Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will give relief to the people by dealing with this crisis the way she had dealt with the coronavirus.”

He said the opposition should give constructive proposals to alleviate the people's sufferings instead of creating chaos.

Mirpur Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Abdul Quader, Mirpur Upazila Health Family Planning Officer Pijush Kumar Saha, and General Secretary of Upazila Jasod Ahmed Ali were present during the visit.
