Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim on Friday said strict actions will be taken if BNP-Jamaat creates an unstable situation in the name of the movement in Bangladesh.
"Awami League is a party of people, it is the party that struggles on the street for the emancipation of people as it wants to spread peace in the country," he said addressing a meeting organized by Swechchhasebak and Discipline sub-committee, marking the 22nd national council of Awami League at the party president's political office in the city's Dhanmondi.
The convener of Swechchhasebak and Discipline Sub-committee Abul Hasanat Abdullah, MP was present in the meeting.
Bahauddin Nasim said BNP-Jamaat carried out arson attacks in 2013 and 2014 and now they are trying to repeat the situation to create anarchy in the country.
"We will remain alert to any kind of plot being hatched by BNP-Jamaat and their cohorts," he said, adding leaders and activists of the Awami League are determined to fight terrorism wherever it is found in Bangladesh.
Replying to another question from journalists, Nasim said: "We are not thinking of the BNP-Jamaat rather Awami League leaders and activists are giving priority to the upcoming national council of the Awami League to be held on December 24.
Awami League working committee member Anwar Hossain, Krishak League President Samir Chanda, President of Swechchhasebak League Gazi Mesbaul Hossain Shachchu, its Vice President Motiur Rahman Moti and General Secretary Afzalur Rahman Babu, among other, were present.
