One of the reasons why Bangladesh is prone to cyber crimes is the extensive use of pirated software

Update : 14 Nov 2022, 12:25 PM

Sysnova Information Systems Limited, the pioneer of open-source enterprise solutions in Bangladesh, is organizing a basic cyber-security training that will introduce its affordable, open-source SIEM solutions.

The cyber-security department is set to organize the workshop, which will be open to select IT professionals working at large companies.

The training program, which is free of charge, is set to be held on November 19 at Brac Center Inn, said a press release.

The day-long training workshop will be split into two portions. The morning session will cover cyber-security basics, improvements, and savings which can be made by migrating users to secure alternatives like Ubuntu Linux.

The afternoon session will focus on monitoring and protection of networks using SIEM software, reads the press release.

The sessions will be conducted by a professional trainer with cyber-security experience and they will discuss the overall situation of cyber security and countermeasures in dealing with cyberattacks in Bangladesh.

Interested IT professionals are requested to register free of charge by contacting the following number by November 16.

Breakfast and lunch will be arranged for the participants by Sysnova Information Systems Limited.

Cyber-attacks are occurring frequently in Bangladesh recently. It has therefore become absolutely necessary for local IT professionals to acquire detailed knowledge about cyber security.

One of the reasons why Bangladesh is prone to cyber crimes is the extensive use of pirated software.

Improving cyber-security by purchasing licenses for all proprietary software is expensive, however, a better alternative may be to migrate to open-source software like Ubuntu Linux and LibreOffice.

Sysnova, an Ubuntu partner, has helped migrate thousands of users at Kazi Farms to these alternatives to improve their organization's cyber security at a low cost.

The standard tool used to monitor and secure networks from hacking is SIEM software, which was traditionally an expensive proprietary system.
