The cabinet on Monday approved the proposed list of 22 holidays for the 2023 calendar year, but eight holidays have coincided with weekends (Fridays and Saturdays).
The holidays include 14 general holidays and eight more that will come with the executive orders of the government.
The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting on Monday, said Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam.
He said: “The cabinet has also approved the list of public holidays for 2023 in Monday's meeting. There will be 22 public holidays next year, and among those eight days are weekends.”
There were 22 days of public holidays in 2022 as well.
