All the educational institutions of Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions will remain closed on Tuesday due to cyclone Sitrang.
The Ministry of Education has given instructions to use the educational institutions in the cyclone-affected areas as shelters, according to a press release of the education ministry.
The ministry said classes of the educational institutions which will be used as shelters will be closed until further orders.
The tip of Cyclone Sitrang hit the coast of Bangladesh as soon as it touched the coast this evening, heavy gusty winds and rain started, according to sources in the Meteorological Department.
The cyclone is expected to cross the coast of Barisal and Chittagong by midnight on Monday.
Earlier, special caution alert-3 has been already issued in Chittagong port. The port has taken all necessary preparations to deal with the cyclone.
Furthermore, all types of operations have been suspended in Chittagong port, said Md Omar Faruq, secretary of Chittagong Port Authority.
