A murder complaint against nine policemen has been filed in connection with the death of Jubo Dal activist Shahidul Islam Shaon.
The complaint was filed in the Munshiganj Sadar Cognizance Court on Thursday.
Shalah Uddin Khan, member of the executive committee of the Nationalist Farmers’ Party, named nine policemen including Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md Minhaj-ul-Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Suman Dev, and Munshiganj Sadar police station OC Tarikuzzaman in the pleading.
He filed the complaint under sections 323, 325, 326, 307, 302 and 34 of the Bangladesh Penal Code mentioning 200-300 unknown persons along with 40-50 policemen.
The court judge Senior Judicial Magistrate Rahima Akhtar kept the complaint pending after the hearing, confirmed Munshiganj Court Police OC Mohammad Jamal Hossain.
He said that the hearing was conducted on the basis of the written complaint. “The judge adjourned the complaint pending an order,” he added.
Earlier on September 21, at least 50 people, including Shaon, were injured in a clash between police and BNP leaders and activists in Munshiganj’s Muktarpur over holding a rally of the party protesting the price hike of fuel, daily essentials and the killing of three opposition leaders in Bhola and Narayanganj in police firing and attacks on different programs of the party.
Shaon, who sustained serious bullet wounds in his head, was put on life support in the DMCH where he died on September 22 night.
