A petition has been filed with a Dhaka court seeking its permission to file a case against eight students of Eden College including the president and secretary of the college unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League in connection with assaulting vice president Jannatul Ferdous.
The eight people are -- BCL President Tamanna Jasmine Riva, general secretary Razia Sultana, Nuzhat Faria Roksana, Ayesha Islam Mim, Nurjahan, Ritu Akhter, Anika Tabassum Swarna and Kamrun Nahar Jyoti.
Jannatul Ferdous filed the petition in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Noor.
The court is likely to pass an order in this regard after recording the statement of the plaintiff.
Jannatul’s lawyer Nur-e-Alam confirmed the matter on Wednesday.
On 22 September, Jannatul gave an interview to the media about Eden College unit BCL president and secretary being involved in various illegal activities.
Following this, a scuffle took place between Jannatul and Razia on September 24. The rival group threatened to throw her out of the college dormitory.
Later on September 25, two clashes reportedly took place at Eden College that injured at least 12 people.
Riva and Razia Sultana, the president and general secretary, have been allegedly involved in several illegal activities including seat trading, extortion, student torture and taking control of hostels and the canteen. They even started extortion from foot-way shops.
Bangladesh Chhatra League on Sunday also suspended the activities of its Eden College committee following the clashes between two factions of the organization.
At the same time, 16 members were permanently expelled from the organization for violating its regulations, said a notice signed by Chhatra League President Al Nahian Khan Joy and General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee.
